Discipleship for Catholic Men, Embracing God's Plan for Our Life
Discipleship for Catholic Men is essentially a handbook on the basics of discipleship, to be studied as a workbook. Discipleship is embracing God’s plan for our lives. If the general goals of God’s plan for your life are to be with him, to become like him and love what he loves, then this workbook describes how God uses his Holy Spirit, Scripture, the Church, the Lives of the Saints and other tools to bring this about.
Discipleship for Catholic Men helps a group of men grapple with the question of what it means for Jesus to be Lord of our life and to be disciples in the modern, secular world. The book is broken into 38 practical studies on prayer, spiritual battle, the Holy Spirit, growth in holiness, examination of conscience, evangelism, and mission. Discipleship for Catholic Men, sponsored by the National Fellowship of Catholic Men, has an excellent appendix of how to transform a fellowship group into a group of on-fire disciples.
This workbook breaks down God’s work of implementing his plan in your life into three processes: Conversion; Transformation; and Mobilization. Part I identifies God‘s call of discipleship to all Catholic men in six lessons, while Part II is comprised of thirty-two lessons on the being formed as disciples of Christ. Each lesson also includes application exercises, discussion questions, or both. Most lessons also feature relevant passages from Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Discipleship for Catholic Men is designed to be used by two or more men meeting regularly for about one hour to review and discuss each lesson.

Witness of the Messiah: On Acts of the Apostles 1-15“Catholic commentaries on Scripture were once plentiful but recently have been in short supply. That is now beginning to change, as a new generation of Catholics has begun providing excellent books and study guides to the Bible. Stephen Pimentel’s study on Acts of the Apostles is just such a book. Drawing richly upon the Old Testament, Witnesses of the Messiah pulls back the curtain to reveal the working of God with His people Israel and the Old Testament’s continuing fulfillment in the New and Eternal Covenant. This book will enlighten and educate, benefiting both the seasoned scholar and the novice dusting off the Bible for the first time.” -Stephen K. Ray Author, Crossing the Tiber and Upon This Rock
“Stephen Pimentel, in his timely and valuable work, has demonstrated how the Holy Spirit acted most powerfully in the history of the early Church. His book, with its stimulating questions, furnishes us with an excellent introduction to the rich biblical theology contained within Saint Luke’s historical narrative. I believe this book will draw many people closer to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is the King and Lord of history.” -Timothy T. O’Donnell, S.T.D., K.C.*H.S. President, Christendom College “

Coming Soon: Unlocking the Book of Revelation and Applying Its Lessons TodayIs there a book of the Bible more often discussed and yet less understood than the Book of Revelation? The “seven seals.” The “dragon.” The “beast.” The “sea of glass.” The fantastic imagery found in the Book of Revelation has long captivated Christians but remains mysterious to many. In the midst of so much discussion about the end times, what does Revelation teach us about living in the present moment, with our eyes focused on the heavenly Jerusalem?
Michael Barber’s latest book, , Coming Soon, explores these questions by taking a detailed look at Revelation and its rich tapestry of prophecy, history, and biblical allusion. Barber explores the profound link between the Mass celebrated here on earth and the eternal reality of heaven, demonstrating that the Apocalypse reveals truth that has practical implications for today and points to a firm hope in tomorrow. Coming Soon is a verse-by-verse commentary on the Book of Revelation using the Revised Standard Version: Catholic Edition of the Bible. Barber provides a Catholic interpretation, which sees the liturgical background of this book of Scripture—a perspective missing in many Protestant commentaries.
Study Questions: Questions at the end of each chapter help promote discussion and reflection.
Michael Barber holds a bachelor's degree in theology and philosophy from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California and a master's degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Theology at Fuller in Pasadena, California.
